A SPIRITUAL CONVERSION

“The Lord will keep you from all harm - he will watch over your life.”      Psalm 121:7

 

 For what it's worth:  God was to be avoided. He was the cause of my empty, suffering soul. That was my attitude until I was sober long enough in Alcoholics Anonymous to see that God certainly was watching over my life during my drinking years - or I would be dead. Coming to believe that fact was a major turning point in my life. I tore down the barricade I had built against God and invited Him in, asking “His protection and care with complete abandon” Immediately, His Spirit filled my soul and began a lifelong spiritual conversion whereby instead of trying to avoid God, I now seek Him; instead of cursing Him, I now praise Him; instead of mistrusting God, I rely upon Him; and, instead of believing He hates me and is punishing me, I am convinced He loves me unconditionally and wishes me happiness, joy, and freedom.
